Omniflow is transforming urban lighting with intelligent luminaires that integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning on the spot. These luminaires illuminate the streets and promote sustainability by generating energy through wind turbines and solar panels, reducing electricity costs and CO2 emissions by more than 90 per cent.

Évora to have fully electric public transport
Évora will be a pioneering town in Portugal by adopting an all-electric public transport network. This project will be possible thanks to the commitment of the concessionaire Trevo to purchase buses with the support of national and international programmes focused on decarbonisation, which will allow for an all-electric fleet.

Oeiras bets on Air Electric Mobility
The municipality of Oeiras and the Megellan 500 consortium signed a protocol to implement an Air Electric Mobility project in the metropolis. This project is intended for passenger transport and involves the installation of vertiports for aircraft bases and VTTOL-electric vehicles with vertical take-off. It is estimated that the system will be in operation within six years.
Albergaria-a-Velha encourages the use of bicycles in the municipality
In Albergaria-a-Velha, in the district of Aveiro, the MOB.A - Mobilidade Operação Bicicleta project was implemented, which provides bicycles for free public use. The programme has three main objectives: to foster a culture of sustainable travel in the city, reduce the use of motorised vehicles, and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle.
Aveiro has the Iberian Peninsula's first electric ferryboat
"Salicórnia" is the first electric ferry developed entirely in Portugal by Portuguese companies to serve a Portuguese region. It is also the first electric ferry on the Iberian Peninsula. The vessel, which links São Jacinto to Forte da Barra (Aveiro), has zero CO2 emissions, eliminating more than 300 tonnes of CO2 released by the previous model in operation and reducing energy consumption by around 30%.
EDP develops innovative solution for heating water
EDP Ventures, through British startup Mixergy, invested 1.7 million euros in developing an innovative technology that, using advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques, provides significant savings in water heating, efficiently using solar energy and optimising the management of available resources. With this technology, the water heating time is five times faster.

Seixal invests in measures for energy sustainability
In Seixal, the municipality is investing in a municipal public lighting plan to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, which includes the replacement of more than 6,000 lamps and the identification of faults in lamp posts throughout the municipality.
Pinhal Novo with a new park of 22,000 solar panels
In Pinhal Novo, the first photovoltaic park in Portugal was inaugurated as part of Voltalia's Garrido Complex, composed of five solar plants. With an investment of 11 million euros, the park has an installed capacity of 11.8 MW and around 22,000 solar panels.

Oeiras wants to reduce the use of individual transport by 43%
Oeiras City Hall wants to increase the use of public transport by 36% and soft mobility by 25%, which will allow a reduction in the use of individual vehicles by 40%. The goal is to reduce 20% of the greenhouse gas emissions in the municipality. Implementing the strategy will involve the creation of innovative projects capable of bringing more efficiency to the city's transportation system.
Companies develop pilot projects aimed at carbon neutrality in Lisbon
Monitoring cities with a view to sustainability is setting the profile of urban environments to respond more effectively to people's needs and improve their quality of life. In this sense, the Lisbon Municipality, together with the consultancy Beta-i, promoted the Smart Open Lisbon Energy Transition intending to reduce carbon emissions in the city and improve the experience of its citizens. Six projects reached the end of the programme and are already being applied in a real context.
