Albergaria-a-Velha encourages the use of bicycles in the municipality

In Albergaria-a-Velha, in the district of Aveiro, the MOB.A - Mobilidade Operação Bicicleta project was implemented, which provides bicycles for free public use. The population adhered to the project, having witnessed, in 2022, a significant increase in the average monthly use of the equipment, with even higher numbers expected during 2023.

The programme has three main objectives: to foster a culture of sustainable travel in the city, reduce the use of motorised vehicles, and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle. The bicycles are accessible at the MOB.A Box for registered users.

The incentive to soft mobility is also given to the youngest through the "Pedalar Operational Programme". Held in a school context, it promotes training and events for preschool and primary school children.
