Vila Nova de Famalicão is B-Smart

The municipal program B-smart Famalicão aims to create a greener city, more inclusive, innovative and with more modern public management, promoting diversity, equal opportunities, and more active participation of citizens.

Vila Nova de Famalicão has implemented the B-SMART Famalicão project. It is an urban intelligence platform that brings together all the competencies involved in a smart city with the principal objective of monitoring how the management of the territory is being carried out and defining indicators for each of these areas.

Through the adopted solutions, managing occurrences in internal articulation with the parishes is possible. An information system for public parking spaces was installed, and a daily analysis of the data collected was made to think of and implement new solutions to optimise the resolution of the most critical situations. The Municipality intends to find correlations between existing data not worked on to anticipate problems that may improve people's lives.

Several technological companies based in Vila Nova de Famalicão develop solutions and technologies for the city. Winsgys, for example, is a leader in producing interactive solutions. It has some of its products, namely Interactive Mupis, installed in different areas of Famalicão, providing residents and tourists with up-to-date information about the city.

In developing its strategies, the Municipality considers the Urban Agenda 2030, defined by the United Nations, which contains the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Urban Agenda for the European Union and Territorial Agenda 2030.
