Portugal Makes Sense at Hannover Messe 2023

One year after being Hannover Messe's partner country, Portugal returned to the world's most influential technology stage in an initiative to consolidate Portugal's image and skills in Germany's important market, with the support and participation of AICEP – Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency.

Under the motto Portugal Makes Sense, the message reinforced that Portugal makes sense to invest in, develop partnerships in, source and buy from, being recognized by the leading world players as competitive, innovative, and focused on future industries.

A group of 37 Portuguese companies were at this year's edition of the Hannover fair, held from the 17th to the 21st of April. AICEP organized the Portuguese official stand of 200 m2, located in Hall 2 of the Hannover Messe, at the fair's northern entrance, where thousands of visitors enter this professional trade fair.

In addition to the companies present in the areas of Engineering, Automation, Digital Ecosystems, Energy, Compressed Air & Vacuum and Startup Area, AICEP's stand presented visitors with innovative technologies from seven Portuguese companies developed in partnership with national reference entities, specifically from CEiiA - Centre for Product and Service Engineering and Development (a four-rotor modular drone), from Follow Inspiration (an autonomous mobile robot forklift), from Fraunhofer Portugal (an innovative system for counting small parts), from Infinite Foundry (an Industrial Metaverse Platform), from Muvu Technologies (RAILES SMART MES - Manufacturing Execution System, a list of last generation software's for the industry), from Skillaugment (the Digital Enhanced Operator, an augmented reality ID project developed in partnership with INESC TEC and VW Autoeuropa) and from SOPLAST (UNIC3 project developed by the University of Coimbra for the automotive sector - mobility and electronics).

For this promotional action, an institutional and commercial programme was organized by the AICEP team in Portugal and Germany. In addition to institutional contacts between Portuguese and German government officials, AICEP organized the participation of Portuguese companies and entities in a selection of conferences covering themes like Industrial Startups, Industry 4.0, Energy, and Industrial Transformation.

Portugal was, in 2022, the partner country of what is considered the largest industrial technology fair in the world. Thousands of commercial and investment contacts were made from this event, which gathered 109 companies.
